October 14th Community Paddle at Little Boggy
Matagorda Adventure Company (MAC) is hosting a community monthly paddle meetup to explore waterways in Matagorda, Texas. We rotate to different sites each month. Bring your own kayak or SUP, life jacket, fishing poles & license (if you want to fish), 360 night light REQUIRED (sunset will be at 6:55pm for the October paddle), plenty of water, sunscreen & bugspray and your friends & family! If you’re bringing your own boat no need to sign up as this is an open & free event, just be ready to launch at 6pm.
If you don’t have your own kayak you can rent one (comes with lifejacket, paddle, & 360 light) from MAC for $10 off the regular half-day rental rate. Be sure to reserve in advance as we will only be bringing enough kayaks for those with advance registration. Also, if renting a kayak please arrive 15 minutes early at 5:45pm to gear up for the 6pm launch. Use the ticket link in the invite on Facebook to reserve a kayak at the discounted rate or click here: Community Paddle Link to Discounted Rental
For our October Community Paddle we will be paddling Little Boggy Boyou (Coordinates: 28.71081, -95.9146). Little Boggy Bayou connects McNab and Gottschalk lakes to the Intracoastal Waterway. This is a great place to fish for Reds and Flounder and view wildlife. Be aware that this is prime Alligator habitat and we have heard reports of some 13ft+ monsters up there. This is a good place to stay in your kayak and not get out to wade. All the land in Little Boggy is private property so please protect paddler access and don’t trespass onto dry land here.
From Matagorda, go east at the Cemetery on Old Gulf Rd. (also known as Cemetery Road). Drive for approximately 2.75 miles and park just before the small bridge and launch on the north side of the road.
Parking & Facilities:
There are no facilities at this site. There is parking along both sides of the road, please be sure to be completely off the road as to not impede traffic. Do not leave valuables in your car at this site.
